AI Use Cases: Social Media
This guidance applies to the use of AI in creating, managing and analyzing social media content on behalf of TCU. AI may assist with planning, writing, editing, optimization and reporting, but employees remain responsible for reviewing all content before publication to ensure accuracy, authenticity, accessibility, legal compliance and alignment with TCU’s brand and values. AI should enhance — not replace — human judgment, creativity and relationship-building. Final decisions about messaging, tone, timing, and engagement remain the responsibility of the content creator.
Use AI to:
- Brainstorm content ideas, campaign concepts, social media series and editorial calendars.
- Draft captions, headlines, hooks and alternative versions of social media copy.
- Adapt approved content for different social platforms while maintaining TCU’s voice and brand standards.
- Summarize articles, research, news releases or long-form content.
- Suggest posting schedules, optimal content format and performance improvements.
- Analyze social media performance, identify trends and generate reports or recommendations.
- Generate closed captions, alt text and accessibility recommendations, while reviewing them for accuracy.
- Support community management by drafting responses to routine questions or comments for staff review before posting.
Don’t Use AI to:
- Publish AI-generated content without human review and approval.
- Create responses to sensitive issues, crises, legal matters, student conduct issues or reputational concerns without appropriate human oversight.
- Impersonate students, faculty, alumni or other individuals or generate fake testimonials, quotes or endorsements.
- Upload confidential, sensitive, proprietary, FERPA-protected, embargoed or unpublished information to unapproved AI platforms.
